Accessibility Statement
I want everyone to be able to read, browse, and get in touch through this site, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or other assistive technology. My goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What the site does
- Readable text and color. Text and its background meet at least a 4.5 to 1 contrast ratio in both light and dark modes, and color is never the only way information is shown.
- Keyboard friendly. Everything works with a keyboard, every link and button shows a visible focus outline, and a “Skip to content” link starts every page.
- Clear structure. Pages use real headings, lists, and landmarks so screen readers can move through them, and every page has a single main heading.
- Described images. Photographs and project images have text descriptions. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Light and dark modes, switchable from the top of every page.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, animations and smooth scrolling are turned off.
- Forms with real labels, clear error messages, and status updates that screen readers announce.
- Works when zoomed to 200 percent and on small screens, without sideways scrolling.
Known limitations
- The I Got Lost chapbook PDF is designed for print and may not read well with a screen reader. If you’d like an accessible text version, email me and I’ll send one.
- Some older photographs are described briefly. I’m happy to describe any image in more detail.
- Third-party sites I link to, such as Substack and Pixieset, have their own accessibility practices.
