Marketing help from your neighbor in The Creek

I live in Swartz Creek, and I build websites and fix Google listings for the businesses here. If you run one, there's a decent chance I've already been your customer.

Word of mouth moved to Google

In a town this size, word of mouth still does most of the work. It just happens on a phone now. Someone asks a neighbor for a good mechanic or where to get a birthday cake, and somebody has already searched it before anyone answers.

If your Google listing is half-finished, or your website was built by a nephew in 2014, that customer ends up in Flint or Grand Blanc, at a business that took twenty minutes to fill in its hours.

That's fixable, and it usually isn't expensive. I've spent more than fifteen years on exactly this problem, including a decade growing Haley Mechanical from 15 people to $25 million, mostly by being easy to find.

What I'd fix first

  1. Your Google Business Profile

Hours, photos, categories, and services filled in properly, plus a simple habit for asking happy customers for reviews.

  2. Your name, address, and phone

The same everywhere they appear online: Google, Facebook, Yelp, and directories. Mismatches quietly cost you rankings.

  3. A website that works on a phone

Fast, clear about what you do and where you are, and one tap from a call. Local business sites start at $5,000.

  4. Pages for what you sell

So you show up when people search for the thing you do, not only when they already know your name.

Around The Creek

Swartz Creek, Gaines, Lennon, Flint Township, Clayton Township, Mundy Township, and Gaines Township. Farther out, I work all over Flint and Genesee County, including a pro bono website and marketing for Kreacher Konnections, an animal rescue in Flushing, and with businesses across Michigan.

Questions

Do you really live in Swartz Creek?
Yes. Everyone here calls it The Creek, and after a while so do you.
Can you just fix my Google listing?
Yes. Not every business needs a new website. Sometimes the most useful thing is getting your Google Business Profile in shape, and that costs a lot less.
What does a website cost?
Websites for local businesses start at $5,000. You get a written quote before any work starts.
Can we meet in person?
Yes. I can come to you, or we can meet somewhere in town.
